There have been a number of issues raised in recent weeks regarding the process around the selection of the preferred route option, Route E, for East West Rail linking Bedford to Cambridge.
As Member of Parliament for North East Bedfordshire, Richard has been facilitating meetings for local residents, the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England, Borough Councillors and Parish Councillors within Bedford Borough affected by Route E. The group has had the opportunity to raise questions with representatives from Bedford Borough Council, East West Rail and with the Rail Minister himself, Chris Heaton-Harris, which was held on Monday.
Richard said:
The crux of concerns raised by residents and parish councillors revolve around whether the process of choosing Route E was conducted in a transparent way and with properly prepared submissions and I was pleased to arrange a meeting for the group to put their questions to the Minister directly.
The Minister confirmed that he would look into the points raised and would make himself available for further dialogue in the future if required.
