This week, Richard had the opportunity to ask Culture, Media and Sport Minister, Caroline Dinenage MP, about visa arrangements for UK musicians.
Following an Urgent Question in the House of Commons on visa arrangements for UK musicians touring the EU, the Minister stressed the urgency to secure bilateral agreements with European partners and simplify current arrangements.
Richard had been contacted by a number of constituents who raised a variety of issues and he was able to ask the Minister to in particular bear in mind those individual musicians who carry multiple instruments as they travel across EU borders.
Commenting, Richard said: "Under current arrangements, UK musicians are required to apply for a carnet for each instrument they take to the EU which is both expensive and time-consuming so I was pleased that the Minister took my comments on board and is prepared to discuss this further."
Since the Urgent Question, Richard wrote to the Minister to reiterate the concerns of constituents and urging her to continue her efforts to secure bilateral or EU arrangements. A copy of his letter can be read here and attached below. A copy of the Minister's reply can be found here and is also attached.
