Last week, Richard met with Will Gallagher, Chief Strategy & Development Officer at East West Rail (EWR) to discuss borehole drilling in Ravensden as part of their ground assessments.
Richard Fuller MP said:
Following that meeting, Will shared with me a breakdown of the mitigation measures that EWR are taking to ensure that the boreholes that they will be drilling as part of their ground assessments for the railway will be conducted safely and with robust plans in place to deal any gas that may be discovered, however small that risk may be.
I am pleased that EWR have taken concerns of local residents seriously and I am reassured that the measures they will implement will greatly reduce, if not 100% eliminate any potential dangers that could have been caused by their drilling.
Following the pause that EWR instigated following the tragic explosion in Cleat Hill, drilling will recommence next month and I would be interested to know if the residents of Ravensden are sufficiently reassured by the steps taken by EWR.
EWR's precautions and mitigations can be read here. If you have any concerns, please do share your views with Richard by emailing [email protected]
Richard first raised concerns about EWR's plans to drill boreholes in Ravensden last December. As a result, EWR paused their plans to drill for 3 months (until March) while they worked on a robust plan.
