Govia Thameslink Railway have contacted Richard with information about a very useful upgrade to their online route maps which allows customers to plan their journeys and check for engineering work up to six weeks in advance on Southern, Thameslink, Great Northern and Gatwick Express trains.
To check for engineering work planned to take place in the future, customers can use the -new calendar function in the bottom left corner of the page to select the day and time they are looking to travel on. The map will then automatically update to show at a glance which routes will have an amended service due to rail improvement and maintenance work, or where rail replacement buses will be running.
Depending on the time the customer is planning to travel, it will also show where only late-night or early morning trains are affected and where normal services will run during the day.
If maps show that the full regular service will be in place customers will be able to plan their journey and book their tickets, or will be able to check the Planned Engineering Work pages for the full details if the maps show there will be an amended service in place.
As before, when set to live-time the maps also highlight routes that are experiencing unplanned disruption at the time of viewing, with customers able to click on stations to check the latest departure information.
