Larksfield Medical Practice in Stotfold has faced a great deal of criticism from the local community it serves and has also recently attracted negative attention nationally. Richard has visited the practice on a number of occasions and one of the recurring issues raised has been the inadequacy of the telephone system which has caused enormous levels of frustration and distress for patients trying to secure an appointment.
The surgery is installing a new phone system from the 8th August. Richard Fuller MP said:
I welcome the news that Larksfield are in the process of transitioning to a new system; AccuRx Total Triage, with a go live date of August 8th. The link below provides more information about this system and I am hopeful that this will resolve some of the issues that have impacted patient satisfaction in recent times. Unfortunately, to enable the practice to transition to the new system, their appointment books have had to be closed for pre-booking for a period of 2 weeks and only on the day appointments are released . This is clearly not ideal and will cause further angst in the short-term, however the expectation is that this will be resolved after the new system goes live as the appointment books will be back to normal at that stage.
In further encouraging news, the practice have informed me that they have two new GP’s starting this month as well as a nurse practitioner.
I am hopeful that these measures will remedy many of the issues faced and patients will soon be supported by a practice that meets their needs. I have a follow-up scheduled with the practice at the start of next month and hope to see evidence of improvements by then.
