Earlier this week, Richard met with Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove, to discuss Carer's Allowance and the Living Wage.
Richard Fuller MP said:
I had the opportunity to catch up with Minister Tom Pursglove MP to have a wide ranging discussion about Carers Allowance and the Living Wage.
Constituents have raised concerns with me that, while the rise in the Living Wage is welcome (up 9.7% last April), there are consequences for people with caring responsibilities but who also want to work.
Tom listened and it’s clear he and the government are looking comprehensively at this issue and the wider issue of care provision, particularly with changes to work patterns.
Richard requested the meeting following his question to the Department for Work and Pensions earlier this year on how changes in benefits and increases in the Living Wage were affecting the eligibility for Carer's Allowance. More information can be read here.
