Richard is encouraging individuals and groups in North East Bedfordshire to get involved in UK Parliament Week: an annual event spreading the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how people can have their voices heard.
This year, UK Parliament Week (UKPW) is taking place from 14-20 November and provides an opportunity for communities to join together to find out how to make a difference on issues they care about by engaging with UK Parliament.
As well as exploring UK Parliament and ways to get involved, this year’s UKPW will mark the reopening of Big Ben and the Elizabeth Tower after a period of restoration, with activities to celebrate this historic occasion. Participants are also being encouraged to hold “tea with my community” events to bring people together to reflect on what their community means to them.
Local groups, volunteer organisations and schools in hundreds of constituencies across the United Kingdom have already signed up to get informed, take action and make an impact. Last year over one million people took part in every part of the UK, and countries all over the world.
MP for North East Bedfordshire, Richard Fuller, said:
As the MP for North East Bedfordshire, I’m encouraging people in my constituency to sign up for UK Parliament Week 2022. I’m looking forward to seeing how people join in, especially in schools, and welcome this opportunity for communities to come together to find out about UK Parliament and celebrate the reopening of Big Ben and the Elizabeth Tower.
People who sign up for UK Parliament Week will be sent a free kit packed with resources, including a booklet, a ballot box, bunting and stickers. There are tailored kits available for youth groups, primary and secondary schools, and adults/over 16s.
