During Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Questions in the House of commons on Tuesday, Richard asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills about the hurdles faced by British manufacturers in securing approval for locally-produced coronavirus test devices. The question and the Minister's response can be watched here.
Richard Fuller said:
Given the difficulties UK manufacturers had faced in getting approval for their devices, including one in my constituency, I asked the the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, whom I know is a believer in agile regulation, whether he would conduct a review with the UK Health Security Agency into the Medical Devices (Coronavirus Test Device Approvals) Regulations 2021 to see what lessons can be learned to assist UK manufacturers in the future.
