On Wednesday, Richard attended the All Party Parliamentary Group meeting for MND (Motor Neurone Disease). The APPG is a cross-party group of MPs and Peers with an interest in MND to increase awareness and understanding of MND amongst parliamentarians and to campaign for better access to high quality services for people affected by MND.
Speaking after the meeting, Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire, said:
There was lots of praise for the Spending Review that allocated £50m for MND Research as part of £300m for new medical research.
As Dr Al Chalabi said on the call, the funding will enable all patients with MND to take part in a clinical trial accelerating feedback on the efficacy of therapies and treatments. The funding will also enable a national infrastructure for research that will make it easier to interact with pharmaceutical companies as they progress their research.
