Continuing his investigations of all things flooding and water quality related, Richard Fuller MP recently visited an Anglian pumping station in Clapham and in Tempsford met with the Parish Chairman, a representative of Anglian Water and local residents to discuss early stages of preparations for this winter flood prevention in the village.
Speaking afterwards, Richard said:
I was reassured to learn that, despite its proximity to the river, the pumping station at Clapham continues to function even during heavy rains, but like the rest of our sewage network there are always risks of flood water entry.
It is good to see some action ahead of Winter in Tempsford - though of course the heavy rains in early September caused unexpected early flooding. I am looking forward to meeting soon with the Environment Agency to learn more about their flood management strategy and future plans. I also am gathering information from across Tempsford and Wyboston to present to the Environment Agency who I think can really be helpful here if they can step up as Anglian Water now seem to be doing.
