During oral questions to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero in the House of Commons this week, Richard asked the Minister for a meeting to discuss regulations surrounding the installation of ground source heat pumps following the tragic gas explosion in Cleat Hill last month. Richard Fuller MP said:
I was grateful to Mr Speaker for allowing me to ask a constituency related question from the bankbenches during oral questions on Energy Security and Net Zero.
The tragic events in Cleat Hill highlight the lack of regulations surrounding ground source heat pumps. Whilst at present this may be a unique occurrence, this technology will play an increasing role in the move to decarbonise home heating and individuals and surrounding communities must be safeguarded against the inherent risk that such deep drilling inevitably brings.
I am grateful to the Minister for her response and will work to secure the meeting at the earliest oppportunity.
