Richard recently visited Stotfold FC to meet their volunteers and watch a game of football.

One of my first engagements as MP, just before COVID hit, was to open the new facilities Stotfold Football Club. So it was a great pleasure to join “Pitching In” for a visit back to the club. Pitching In provides funds to invest in grassroots sports and is funded by Entain Group, better known as the parent company for Ladbrokes and Corals.
Stotfold FC is amazing - truly amazing - that this club of volunteer leaders has amassed 80 or more teams of players in the kids, juniors and adult teams for both men and women. Even the match day programme was brilliantly produced and strongly supported by local businesses.
The match vs Waltham Forest marked the 150th game for Stotfold FC goalkeeper, Liam Gooch: a great achievement.
Pitching In is the investment programme partnered with Trident League football clubs that works to support clubs like Stotfold FC with their recruitment of volunteers. They do this via the Pitching In Volunteer Hub which enables clubs to post volunteering vacancies by searching for available opportunities either at a specific club or based on their location.
