Ahead of today’s budget North East Bedfordshire MP, Richard Fuller, has led a cross party, cross region group of MPs calling on the Chancellor to rethink plans for growth in the “OxCam Arc”. The MPs say that the existing plans, based on a 2016 National Infrastructure Report are falling short citing the abandonment of the Expressway, the difficulties with the East West Rail business case and the rise in environmental expectations.
Richard Fuller MP commented:
“Today the Chancellor will rightly be focussing on promoting economic growth. Our part of the country is well placed to contribute but he needs a better plan: one that is more locally driven and with our Net Zero ambitions at its core.”
The MPs also draw attention to the existing pressure on public services and call for an improved balance between adding more primary care capacity and additional housing.
