This year's Budget will be delivered by the Chancellor on the 11th March. Speaking ahead of the Budget, Richard commented on what he hoped to see from the Chancellor: "Two of our main priorities coming into the Election were to have more nurses and more police officers. I think the upcoming Budget will be a chance to show how serious we are about investing in public services.
But as someone who does worry about how we will pay for these things, I am hopeful that there will also be changes on taxation. I'd like to see the NI contribution threshold raised, so those on lower incomes keep more of their money. And I'm desperately looking for a change in business rates - so we look more towards the big companies and release some of the burden from our retailers."
