Earlier this month, Richard attended the annual speech by Gareth Davies, Head of the National Audit Office (NAO) which is the watchdog that calls out poor value for money in government spending.
Richard Fuller MP said:
Gareth Davies was joined by NAO Chair, Dame Fiona Reynolds and Sir Geoffrey Clinton Brown MP, the chair of the Public Accounts Committee in the House of Commons.
Mr Davies stressed the importance of improving productivity in the public sector and the need for government to embrace innovation and new technologies.
I have a very high regard for the Auditor General and know he is alert to the lack of sustainability of a range of government programmes. This is important because, in a tougher global economy, we have tougher choices in public services priorities to avoid the tax burden becoming even more out of control.
