Richard recorded a message on leaving the House of Commons chamber on Wednesday, giving his immediate thoughts on Rachel Reeves' Budget and the response by Rishi Sunak which can be watched at https://youtu.be/d7d_g35KMyY?si=A1e7sWnAgljkAdIF
Richard noted the green light given to East West Rail with another consultation starting in November; the choice of Rachel Reeves to increase taxation by £40bn and massively expand borrowing which were both hidden from the electorate during the election. Finally he commented on Rishi's final performance in the Commons as Leader of the Opposition.
Richard Fuller MP said:
Keir Starmer told the country that they could trust Labour’s promises not to raise taxes and not to unleash a borrowing spree. But Labour have done just that and more. They fiddled the fiscal rules, increased borrowing by billions of pounds, and raised taxes on businesses – which they have now admitted will leave working people worse off.
