NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) Integrated Care Board have contacted Richard about the wider roll-out of 'Total Triage' as we enter the busy winter period.
Total Triage is a new approach which aims to ensure that all patient requests are screened remotely before being directed to the right care. This method aims to ensure more efficient use of healthcare resources, reduce unnecessary visits, and maintain safety for both patients and staff. It helps prioritise urgent cases and ensures that everyone gets the care they need in a timely manner.
Richard Fuller MP said:
Of course, like any new initiative, the proof will be in the pudding, and time will tell whether 'Total Triage' will address some of the issues with accessing GP services that have plagued large areas of the constituency over recent years.
Key to success will be having enough staff on hand to assess the patient needs as they are submitted, and for GP practices to have sufficient numbers of GPs, clinical pharmacists and nurse practitioners to allocate patients to.
Overall I welcome this initiative and look forward to seeing how it works in practice. I will be interested to hear your thoughts and whether you see a noticeable improvement at your local surgery going forward.
