On Wednesday, Richard received a reply from Alex Norris MP, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Local Growth and Building Safety on a number of issues raised in Richard's letter of the 28th October regarding the financial support available to Bedford Borough Council to assist the displaced families while taking into account the extraordinary costs incurred by the council in dealing with recent flood relief. He also asked the department to provide advice to families concerned about the impact of this incident on their home insurance premiums and any diminution of the valuation of their homes. The letter to the Ministry can be seen here. The reply from the Minister can be read here.
Richard also received a reply from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) on questions he raised with them regarding the 30 day / 60 day rule on the period that a house can be unoccupied due to a mandatory evacuation; the impact on future insurance; and a comparison of home insurance for new builds on former mining land compared with the national average. The ABI's reply can be read here.
Richard also discussed the information received in these replies in his adjournment debate on Cleat Hill on Thursday evening. His debate can be watched here.
