Friday marks the start of the 2021 Great British Spring Clean which is calling on litter pickers to help with the million-mile mission.
Keep Britain Tidy has based its #MillionMileMission goal on the idea that it takes the average person 20 minutes to walk a mile whilst litter picking.
With Government Covid guidelines in mind, individuals, schools, councils, local groups and businesses are being encouraged to help keep our local community clean, green and litter-free.
Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire, said:
On Saturday I helped pick up litter in Langford and have committed more of the same in Fairfield next week and in Clapham early next month. It's great that 957,587 miles have already been pledged by the community of #LitterHeroes so far.
If you can spare 20 minutes, please pledge, or even pledge again and help reach the million mile target to give our country a thorough spring clean.
To get involved and pledge some time, please visit the Keep Britain Tidy website. The Great British Spring Clean runs from 28 May to 13 June 2021.
